Scouting Seton Hall
The Pirates hosted Marquette on Friday afternoon and posted a 77-66 victory at Walsh Gym to hand the Golden Eagles their first loss in BIG EAST action. Seton Hall only scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, but their 42-26 halftime lead would give them enough cushion to hold on for their third conference win. Andra Espinoza-Hunter and Desiree Elmore were an outstanding duo for head coach Anthony Bozzella. Espinoza-Hunter hit seven 3-pointers to net a career-high 25 points and Elmore would chip in with 20. That tandem actually outscored Marquette in the first half 27-26. Great team defense from Seton Hall would cause 21 Marquette turnovers, resulting in 27 SHU points. Friday's tilt marked the start of four-straight home games for Seton Hall. After hosting Butler on Sunday, they will face St. John's on Wednesday and Xavier on Saturday, Jan. 23.

All-Time Series vs. Seton Hall
Seton Hall is ahead of Butler in the all-time series 11-5. The Pirates have won five-straight over the Bulldogs, including a quarterfinals matchup in the 2020 BIG EAST Tournament. Butler's last win over SHU was on January 4, 2019. Their only victory inside Walsh Gym came on January 4, 2014.

Last Meeting vs. Seton Hall
Oddly enough, each team in the last meeting shot 25-for-61 from the field (Jan. 11). The Pirates came out on top in part to 3-point shooting from Andra Espinoza-Hunter and by hitting 18 of their 25 free throw attempts. SHU got to the line often while Butler recorded just six points from the foul line. Espinoza-Hunter hit seven 3-pointers for a game-high 23 points. Lauren Park-Lane was equally as impressive with 18 points and a team-best seven assists. Butler got 17 points from Genesis Parker, 12 from Okako Adika and a career-high 11 points from Nyamer Diew.

Season-High Totals set vs. Seton Hall

'Dawgs Playing Good Defense

They shot 23 percent from the field, including 10 percent from 3-point land. The intense BU defense only allowed six assists while scoring 19 points off 19 GU turnovers.

Butler handed out a season-best 14 assists in their last game. Okako Adika led the team with five and Upe Atosu was credited with four. Six different players came up with at least one assist and the Bulldogs have now hit double figures in the assist column three times this season.

Last Game
Butler recorded their first win of the season over Georgetown on Wednesday by locking down the Hoyas defensively. GU shot just nine percent in the first quarter (2-22) and 23 percent in the game (15-65). Butler recorded eight steals and forced Georgetown into 19 turnovers. BU dominated the opening 10 minutes of play and would cruise to an 18-point victory on their home floor.

Parker Poised for Success
Genesis Parker is averaging 13.5 points per game over her first four starts of the season and has hit two 3-point field goals in every game. On Wednesday, Parker hit her first two shots from behind the arc and would add a layup to register eight points over the opening 10 minutes. Her play helped Butler win the first quarter over Georgetown 19-5.

Floor General
Upe Atosu leads Butler with 20 assists this season, giving her 11 more assists than anyone else on the roster. The talented guard is also the team leader in steals with 15. She set a new career-high total with four steals vs. Georgetown on Wednesday.

Trending in the Right Direction
Butler only had one player reach a double figure scoring total in four of their first five games. Over the last three games, BU has had three players score 10 or more.
