Box Score MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Eagles scored 21 of their 31 points in the second half to claim a homecoming victory over Butler on Saturday afternoon.
Joey Suchy found the end zone on a 2-yard rush for the Bulldogs. The touchdown was Suchy's first score as a Bulldog.
How It Happened
The Bulldog defense was outstanding over the first 30 minutes of play. They recorded four interceptions, but still faced a 10-0 deficit heading into the half.
Connor Reid was the leader of the secondary with two interceptions in the first quarter.
Malachi Pike and
Trey Mason would also come up with turnovers for the Bulldogs.
The game was tied up at 0-0 after the first 15 minutes, but Morehead State would score 10 points in the second quarter to take the lead. Issiah Aguero scored on a two-yard rush to open up the second frame and Andrew Foster would connect on a 32-yard field goal attempt to send the game into halftime.
BJ Byrd impacted the outcome with two receiving touchdowns in the third quarter. Mark Pappas made the game 17-0 with a 17-yard TD pass to Byrd midway through the third and that duo would strike again with 1:15 left to push the score to 24-0. Byrd ended the game with nine catches for 121 yards and two TD's. Pappas tossed the ball 39 times for 224 yards.
Butler's offense never got going at Morehead State. The 'Dawgs were limited to just three pass completions in 20 attempts.
AJ Deinhart led the rushing attack with 63 yards on 13 carries. Suchy had 58 yards against the Eagles, taking a handoff nine times.
Morehead State had a three-player rushing attack with Harris and Stoudemire joining Aguero in the backfield. Harris scored the final TD of the game and Stoudemire led all players with 148 rushing yards.
