@ButlerUFootball to Host Davidson on Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler Bulldogs will host the Davidson Wildcats this weekend at the Sellick Bowl. Two of the top rushing attacks in the PFL will clash Saturday at 1 PM.
 
Bulldog Bits
- Butler came up with an interception on four of Morehead State's first five drives last Saturday.
- BU now leads the PFL and ranks 16th in the FCS with eight interceptions.
- Malachi Pike and Trey Mason each made the first interception of their career against the Eagles.
- AJ Deinhart rushed the ball 13 times for 64 yards at MSU setting new season-high totals.
- Luka Zurak punted the ball six times at Morehead State, covering a season-high 239 yards (39.8).
- Zurak ranks second in the PFL and 45th in the FCS in punt average (39.9).
- Butler is the least penalized team in the PFL (averages 4.4 penalties per game).
- Davidson and Butler rank first and second in the PFL in rushing offense.
- Davidson won the PFL Championship in 2020-21 with a 4-1 conference record. It marked their first postseason berth in 52 years!
- Bradley Magee had five tackles, including a tackle for loss the last time BU faced Davidson in 2019.
- Davidson only attempted 10 passes against BU in 2019. They ended the game with only three completions, two however went for touchdowns.

SCOUTING DAVIDSON: The Wildcats are 4-1 overall and undefeated in PFL action. Two of their three league wins this year have been played at Richardson Stadium. They also went to Stetson to claim a 35-28 win. Davidson leads the league in rushing offense and rushing defense. They average 300 yards per game on the ground, the best of any team in the FCS. Coy Williams and Dylan Sparks give the Wildcats a 1-2 punch in the Davidson backfield. Williams has a team-high nine touchdowns, yet Sparks has the most rushing attempts on the team with 81. On the other side of the ball, the Davidson defense only allows 138 rushing yards per contest.
 
Jonathan Hammond posted a game-best 11 stops in Davidson's 70-35 PFL victory against Presbyterian. He was named PFL Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season. Hammond leads the team in sacks with six. He also has recorded 8.5 tackles for loss this season.
 
LAST GAME VS. DAVIDSON: The Wildcats outscored Butler 33-0 in the second quarter to claim a 52-10 road win at the Sellick Bowl in 2019. BU covered 60 yards on their opening drive to get on the scoreboard first with a 27-yard field goal. The lone touchdown of the game for the 'Dawgs came on an 18-yard run by Nick Orlando in the fourth quarter.
 
Davidson never punted the ball in the last meeting and were 12-for-14 on third down against the Bulldogs. Orlando rushed for 107 yards and passed for 68 to lead Butler in each statistical category.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: Davidson leads the all-time series against Butler 7-6. Butler's last win came during the 2016 season (20-17).
 
Drew Bevelhimer's 29-yard field goal at the end of regulation gave Butler a 20-17 come-from-behind win over Davidson in 2016.
 
YOGI YARDS: WR Yogi Flager needs 120 yards on Saturday to reach 1,000 in his young BU career. Flager recorded 387 yards during the spring season and has added a team-best 493 this year with three scores.
 
Flager caught one pass at Morehead State for 22 yards. It was the first time this season an opponent has held him to a single reception.
 
CAREER DAY FOR CONNOR: Connor Reid provided Butler with two interceptions and a career-high 12 tackles at Morehead State.
 
Butler ended the Morehead State game with four interceptions. Reid now leads the team in tackles (43) and picks (3) heading into the final four games of the season.
 
SUCHY FOR SIX: Redshirt Freshman Joey Suchy scored the first touchdown of his collegiate career last Saturday. He crossed the goal line for a two-yard TD to get BU on the scoreboard in the fourth.
 
Suchy ran the ball nine times against the Eagles to post a career-best 58 yards on the ground. He is now listed second on the Butler depth chart.
 
BULLDOGS IN THE BACKFIELD: Butler's defense made seven tackles behind the line of scrimmage at Morehead State. The 'Dawgs were credited with 102 total tackles, four QB hurries and two pass breakups.
 
Eloi Bigirimana led Butler with two tackles for loss and was near the team lead with 11 total tackles. BU set new team season-high totals in total tackles, tackles for loss and interceptions.
 
STOP THE RUN: Butler allowed 323 rushing yards at Morehead State, the most of any game this season. Prior to Oct. 16, Butler had kept four of their six opponents under 200 yards on the ground.
 
On average, Butler allows 206.9 rushing yards per contest. Davidson has rushed for 300+ yards in three of their five games. They rushed for 351 yards last weekend against Presbyterian.
 
GROUND GAME: Butler rushed the ball 33 times at Morehead State, which is seven carries lower than their season average. Davidson averages 58 hand-offs per game in 2021.
 
Davidson rushed the ball 62 times the last time they played at the Sellick Bowl (2019). 14 different players carried the ball that day.
 
UP NEXT: Dayton will host Butler on Saturday, Oct. 30. The Flyers have won the last six meetings.
 
Dayton leads the all-time series against Butler 32-12-1.
