Full Release

Graduate MB Melody Davidson was recognized as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office Monday. This is her first Defensive Player of the Week honor of the year and second of her career following one on Oct. 8, 2019.

Davidson posted 19 blocks over the weekend (five solo, 14 assist), including a season-best 11 at St. John's on Sunday afternoon. The defensive effort helped the Bulldogs post their first undefeated weekend of the year with wins over Seton Hall and St. John's.

The 11 blocks set a new high for any BIG EAST player this season. Davidson now has three matches with at least eight blocks on the season after also posting eight against Nevada on Sept. 10.

Davidson's 2.71 blocks/set led the conference for last week's matches, while she also added 19 kills on a .356 hitting percentage over the weekend.

Butler returns to the court Friday night at Xavier before hosting UConn Sunday afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
