The Butler men's soccer team is set to host Seton Hall on Wednesday, October 27, at 7 pm. (This match was rescheduled from October 2.) The Bulldogs are coming off a 0-0 double-overtime draw with DePaul, while the Pirates most recently lost to Creighton, 3-1.
 
BULLDOG BITS

  • Gabreil Gjergji ranks 40th nationally and third in the BIG EAST in Goals Against Average (.892), as well as 41st nationally and third in the conference in Save Percentage (.768).
     
  • For his performances last week against Marquette and DePaul, Butler midfielder Quint Breitkreuz has been selected as the BIG EAST Men's Soccer Freshman of the Week. He had a goal and assist in Butler's 2-1 home win over Marquette, assisting on Wilmer Cabrera, Jr.'s opening goal in the sixth minute before providing the 102nd-minute golden goal to clinch the win. Breitkreuz registered two shots in each contest, including two in a draw at DePaul.
     
  • The Bulldogs, now with 13 points, sit in the fourth place in the BIG EAST standings. The third and fourth-place teams will host quarterfinal matches in round one of the BIG EAST Tournament.
     
  • Butler's 2021 schedule has included five ranked teams, including three ranked in the top-5 when the contest was played. The Bulldogs faced No. 1 Indiana (L, 0-1), No. 1 Georgetown (L, 0-1), and No. 5 Marshall (L, 0-2). Marshall is the defending College Cup National Champion, having defeated Indiana in the spring.
  • The Bulldogs were victorious over No. 18 Lipscomb (3-1) on September 21, as well as No. 20 Providence (2-1) on October 16.
  • As of 10/25/21, Butler's strength of schedule is ranked No. 4 by RPI Update.
