@ButlerUWSoccer Defeats Creighton, Prepares for BIG EAST Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler women's soccer team ended its regular season schedule with a 3-1 win over visiting Creighton. The Bulldogs (14-3-1, 7-2-1 BIG EAST) scored in the 16th minute and held the lead at halftime, but the Bluejays (7-10-2, 1-8-1 BIG EAST) responded after the break with a PK, leveling the score at one. Butler then regained control, countering with two additional goals to win its seventh conference match.

The Bulldogs now set their sights on the postseason, beginning with a BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinal match this Sunday at the Sellick Bowl. The No. 3-seed Bulldogs will host No. 6-seed UConn for a 1 pm kickoff, with the winner moving on to a semifinal match with No. 2-seed Georgetown in Cincinnati on Thursday, November 4.

  • 62' | Amanda Kowalski takes a pass on the left side from Alexei Whittaker in the center. She drills a shot from the left side of the box over the Creighton keeper's hands, giving Butler a 2-1 lead.
  • 87' | After a Bluejays foul, Amanda Kowalski takes a free kick from the left goal line and finds the head of Katie Soderstom. Her re-direction finds the upper right corner of the goal, and Butler takes a 3-1 lead.
