@ButlerUWSoccer Shuts Out Connecticut and Sits Atop BIG EAST

INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler women's soccer team remains at the top of the BIG EAST standings as it picked up a 3-0 win over visiting Connecticut (5-5-0, 1-2-0 BIG EAST) on Sunday. The Bulldogs (10-1-1, 3-0-1 BIG EAST) scored one in the first period and added two more after the break to remain undefeated in conference play.

Key Moments
  • 27' | Katie Soderstrom sent a corner kick to the near post, and the deflection off a Huskies defender was one-touched from 15 yards by Becky Dean into the upper left corner of the goal. Butler took the early lead, 1-0, on what was Dean's first goal of the season.
  • 50' | Abigail Isger passed to Alli Leonard just past midfield and then sprinted toward the goal. Leonard sent a diagonal ball in front of the steaking Isger, who beat her defender and shot low and just to the left of the charging UConn keeper. The ball rolled right into the center of the goal, and the Bulldogs led, 2-0.
  • 75' | Soderstrom hit another corner kick, this one to the far post. Julia Leonard was waiting on the backside, and her leaping header went directly into the left-side upper ninety.
