The Butler women's soccer team is preparing to host UConn for a quarterfinal match in the BIG EAST Tournament on Sunday, October 31, at 1 pm. The Bulldogs are the No. 3-seed while the Huskies come in as the No. 6-seed.

Bulldog Bits
  • Abigail Isger is 22nd nationally with four game-winning goals and is tied for the BIG EAST lead.
  • Katie Soderstrom is second in the BIG EAST and 26th nationally with 11 goals. Soderstrom is second in the BIG EAST and 18th nationally with 29 points.
  • Alli Leonard and Soderstrom, each with seven assists, are fourth in the BIG EAST and 57th nationally. Isger, with six, is eighth in the BIG EAST.
  • Emma Martin's eight shutouts are third in the BIG EAST and 16th nationally, while her .629 GAA is third in the conference and 20th nationally.
     
  • 2021 is the seventh consecutive season that Butler women's soccer has qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament. The Bulldogs made the championship match in four of the previous six seasons and won the tournament in 2015.
  • 2021 is the ninth season of the past ten in which Butler has produced double-digit wins. Excluding 2014, the Bulldogs have had at least 10 wins every season since 2012.

The Matchup
  • In Butler's 3-0 win over UConn earlier this season: The Bulldogs scored goals in the 27th, 50th, and 75th minutes. Becky Dean's game-winning goal was her first goal of the season. Abigail Isger scored her sixth of the season, Julia Leonard notched her second. Katie Soderstrom produced two assists, both coming off corner kicks, while Alli Leonard tallied her seventh of the season. Freshman Emma Martin made two saves and was credited with her fifth shutout of the season.
  • Butler outshot Connecticut, 11-5 total, and 7-2 on goal.
  • The Bulldogs earned seven corner kicks compared to five for the Huskies.
     
  • Butler and UConn have met only two times, with Butler winning both.
