Soccer Championship Program

The Butler women's soccer team is headed to the NCAA tournament for the third time in program history and will be traveling to face Wisconsin on Friday, November 12, in Madison, Wis. Kickoff is set for 6 pm central (7 pm eastern). The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-2 loss to Georgetown in the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals, while the Badgers most recently lost to Rutgers, 1-0, in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.

  • Abigail Isger is 15th nationally with five game-winning goals and tied for first in the BIG EAST.
  • Katie Soderstrom is 26th nationally, with 12 goals, and 22nd with 31 total points. She is second in the BIG EAST in both categories.
  • Alli Leonard and Soderstrom are fifth in the BIG EAST with seven assists each. Isgar, with six, is eighth.
  • Emma Martin's nine shutouts place her 11th nationally, and third in the BIG EAST. Her GAA (.661) ranks 21st overall and third in the conference.
     
  • This is the second NCAA at-large bid for Butler in program history and the third overall trip to the NCAA Tournament. Butler's first appearance came in 2015 when the Bulldogs defeated Providence 1-0 in the BIG EAST championship match to earn the conference's automatic bid. The second trip came two years later, in 2017, when Butler received its first at-large bid.
  • Wisconsin will be the third Big Ten opponent the Bulldogs have faced in the NCAA Tournament. In 2015, Butler lost to Ohio State (1-2) in double-overtime. In 2017, the Bulldogs battled Northwestern through two overtime periods to a 0-0 draw, but the Wildcats advanced to round two on PKs, 3-2.
     
  • The Bulldogs have scored 40 goals in 20 matches this season (2.00 goals/match) while giving up 17 goals (0.850 goals allowed/match).
