The Butler women's soccer team has earned a rematch with Georgetown, this time in the BIG EAST Tournament on Thursday, November 4, at 7:30 pm, in Cincinnati. The No. 3 seed Bulldogs are coming off a 1-0 double-overtime victory over UConn in the tournament quarterfinals, while the No. 2 seed Hoyas were most recently upset, 0-1, by the same Huskies side in their final match of the regular season.

  • Abigail Isger is 11th nationally with five game-winning goals and finished first in the BIG EAST.
  • Katie Soderstrom is 34th nationally, with 11 goals, and 23rd with 29 total points. She finished second in the BIG EAST in both categories.
  • Alli Leonard and Soderstrom finished fifth in the BIG EAST with seven assists each. Isgar, with six, finished eighth.
  • Emma Martin's nine shutouts place her 7th nationally, and she finished second in the BIG EAST. Her GAA (.589) ranks 16th overall and ended at third in the conference.
     
  • 2021 is the seventh consecutive season that Butler women's soccer has qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament. The Bulldogs made the championship match in four of the previous six seasons and won the tournament in 2015.
  • 2021 is the ninth season of the past ten in which Butler has produced double-digit wins. Excluding 2014, the Bulldogs have had at least 10 wins every season since 2012.
     
  • The Bulldogs have scored 39 goals in 19 matches this season (2.05 goals/match) while giving up 15 goals (0.789 goals allowed/match).
  • Twelve different players have scored at least one goal in 19 matches this season, and twelve have also produced an assist.
The Matchup
  • In Butler's 0-1 loss to Georgetown earlier this season: The Hoyas earned a corner kick and scored the only goal of the match off a header in the 89th minute.
  • Butler outshot Georgetown, 5-3, in the first period, but the Hoyas had an 11-3 edge in the second period, giving them a 14-8 advantage, overall. Both teams had three shots on goal.
  • Three Bulldogs, Katie Soderstrom, Abigail Isger, and Alli Leonard had a pair of shots. Isger's were both on target. Freshman Emma Martin made two saves as she suffered her first career loss.
