@ButlerMSoccer’s Cabrera, Jr. and Myers Earn All-East Region Honors from United Soccer Coaches

| By:
A pair of Butler men's soccer players were named to one of the All-East Region teams as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday. Junior, Wilmer Cabrera, Jr., was a first team selection, while redshirt-senior, Rhys Myers, made the third team.

Cabrera, Jr. and Myers are the seventh and eighth Bulldogs selected from the men's soccer team in the past five seasons, and this marks the 22nd season overall in which Butler has produced at least one region representative.

Cabrera, Jr., from Bogota, Colombia, earned his second career all-region nod after starting all 19 matches for Butler this season and leading the team in goals (5) and overall points (12). Two of his goals were game-winners, and he was also credited with two assists. The forward was recently named to the 2021 All-BIG EAST First Team, his second such honor. He finished the BIG EAST portion of the season fourth in shots (27) and shots per game (2.70), tied for fifth in goals (3), and eighth in points (8).

Myers, a redshirt-senior from Nottingham, England, was selected for an All-Region team for the first time in his career. He anchored a Butler defense that conceded only 20 goals in 19 matches this season, while posting five shutouts. The team finished second in BIG EAST competition in goals allowed (10) and third in shutouts (3). Myers was recently named to the 2021 All-BIG EAST Second Team as well as the 2021 BIG EAST Championship All-Tournament Team.
