Scott Hall - 2021 BIG EAST

@ButlerSoftball Signs Six in 2022 Recruiting Class

| By:

Butler has announced the signing of six standout softball student-athletes to national letters of intent. Hailey Conger, Rylyn Dyer, Cate Lehner, Olivia Moxley, Morgan Robertson, and Kieli Ryan will join the program beginning with the 2022-23 academic year.

"I am thrilled to announce our 2022 recruiting class," expressed Butler head coach Scott Hall. "The process to recruit these young ladies was different than most years due to COVID, but we feel lucky to have received commitments from these fine young women. This group brings power, speed, skill, depth, versatility, softball IQ, and academic success. But, most importantly, they bring high character and the desire to be great teammates. I have no doubt that this recruiting class will have an immediate impact on our continual journey to compete for BIG EAST Championships."

Hailey Conger, C, Gurnee, Ill. / Warren Township HS

As a junior, Conger helped lead her high school team to a perfect conference record (12-0), a regional championship, and a sectional final appearance in the 2020-21 season. Coached by Jenna Charbonneau, she batted .473 with 40 runs and 25 RBIs and was named all-conference, all-area, and All-State Second Team.

Conger traveled with Wisconsin Lightning Fastpitch for seven years. Her 2020-21 slash line of .500/.557/.752 led the team and included 113 hits with 12 triples and 24 doubles. In 133 innings behind the plate, she caught five of eight stealing and picked off two, producing a .993 fielding percentage. The previous season, she also led the team at the plate, slashing .502/.569/.766 with 116 hits that included 15 triples and 22 doubles. In 36 innings behind the plate, she picked off four of eight, accumulating a .966 fielding percentage.

Coach Hall on Conger: "Hailey just flat competes! College athletics runs in her family, and you can tell when she steps on the field. She has a high motor and loves to go, go, go. A true triple threat at the plate will make her hard to defend in the BIG EAST. A great fit, on and off the field, for Butler! We are excited for what is to come for her as a Dawg!"

Rylyn Dyer, P, Hamersville, Ohio / Georgetown HS

Dyer helped lead her high school team to a 2021 district championship. She is a two-time all-conference selection who holds high school season records as a pitcher for strikeouts (302) and as a batter for RBIs (40) and home runs (11). She also currently holds career records for strikeouts (464), batting average (.448), and home runs (13).

Dyer, who plays travel ball for the Indiana Shockwaves, is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Coach Hall on Dyer: "Rylyn is going to add depth to our pitching staff. She is a hard worker and very coachable. She has the skill set and mental makeup to be a successful pitcher in the BIG EAST. I am excited for her to get on campus, with our pitching coach full time, and get to work! Ry also carries a pretty big bat to the plate, which is always a bonus!"

Cate Lehner, OF, Indianapolis, Ind. / Roncalli HS

Lehner helped lead her high school team to a 2021 IHSSA 4A State Softball Championship with an overall record of 32-2. Coached by David Lauck, the 2021 all-conference selection batted .415. Lehner is a four-sport athlete who has also participated in soccer, basketball, and track and field. She travels with Indy Dreams (Jeff Mader) and is a member of the National Honor Society, receiving Academic All-State recognition.

Coach Hall on Lehner: "Cate is another local talent that we couldn't let get away. She brings speed and coverage to the outfield and the ability to apply pressure to the defense when she is at the plate. Cate knows what winning looks like as a state champion in softball, and we expect her to bring that attitude with her. Even though she is a cat lover, she has no issues being a DAWG!"

Olivia Moxley, SS, Evansville, Ind. / Evansville Central HS

Moxley has twice been named Evansville Courier & Press All-Metro, All-SIAC First Team, and all-conference first team, and she was selected to the Indiana All-State Third Team after her junior season. The National Honor Society member also owns the Evansville Central school records for single-season hits and batting average, as well as pitching the most strikeouts in a single game.

Coach Hall on Moxley: "Mox is a gamer! I love watching her compete and her intensity on the field. She is a true infield utility player who can make us better defensively at all infield positions. She has a big arm and solid game I.Q. and is a strong gap-to-gap hitter. I'm excited to see what her career will look like at Butler!"

Morgan Robertson, C, Aurora, Ill. / Oswego East HS

In the 2021 season, Robertson helped lead her high school team to a regional championship. She was named all-state, all-area, and all-conference for the season, batting .403 with 27 RBIs, five home runs, and seven extra-base hits. She competes with the Silver Hawks Dennison Fastpitch Softball program.

Coach Hall on Roberson: "Morgan brings lefty power to Rocky Ripple! She has been coming to Butler camps for a long time, and I have just seen her continue to work hard and get better. Mo is a versatile catcher and first baseman who has passion for the game. Looking forward to getting her on campus and competing as a Dawg!"

Kieli Ryan, C, Ingals, Ind. / Pendleton Heights HS

Ryan helped lead her high school team to its third and fourth consecutive county championships. Her freshman season, she was named all-conference, all-area, All-State third team, and IndyStar Super Team Honorable Mention. Team honors included Breakout Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. After her sophomore season was cancelled, she earned all-conference, all-area, All-State second team, and IndyStar Super team recognition her junior season, and she was named Defensive Player of the Year on her team. The IndyStar 2022 watch list designee is also a member of her school's National Honor Society and Beta Club.

Coach Hall on Ryan: "I have been watching this lady for quite a while. Playing alongside my daughter in high school, she caught my attention early and has only gotten better. I know the type of high character person and player that Kieli is, and I know she is going to excel as a Bulldog! She is a true shut-down catcher behind the dish and a vocal leader. She may not be tall, but she swings like she is Big Papi! Looking forward to seeing her in a Butler uniform."
