Marquette came away with a 73-57 win over Butler Wednesday night in Indianapolis, putting four players in double figures.

With the win, Marquette improves to 10-12 overall and 6-10 in BIG EAST play.

Marquette closed the first half by scoring the final eight points to take a 41-25 advantage into the locker rooms. It was the largest lead of the opening 20 minutes. The margin stretched to as many as 28 in the second half.

Greg Elliott led Marquette with 17 points, while Jamal Cain posted a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Marquette shot 45 percent from the field and out-rebounded Butler, 41-28.

Chuck Harris (21) and
Bryce Golden (18) combined for 39 of Butler's 57 points. Golden went 7-of-10 from the field, while Harris tied a career-high with five three-pointers.

Marquette went to the line 27 times, converting 24 of those. Butler went 12-of-18.

Butler was limited to 34-percent shooting. The Bulldogs were without
Bryce Nze, who missed the game with a groin injury. Nze is averaging 10.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
Bo Hodges was limited to 15 minutes, including only three in the second half, with a calf strain.

The Bulldogs return to action Sunday night, making the bus trip over to Xavier for a 7 p.m. tip.
