Alyssa Griman will join the Butler Softball staff for the 2021 season as a volunteer assistant coach. Griman recently concluded a standout playing career at UIC.

The Mishawaka, Ind., native was the starting catcher for three seasons at UIC. During the 2018 season, Griman was named to the All-Horizon League Freshman Team. As a sophomore, she earned another conference accolade by being named to All-Horizon League Team in 2019.

Griman excelled in the classroom as well. She earned Horizon League All-Academic Team honors in 2018, 2019, and 2020, as well as a place on the Horizon League Honor Roll for the 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 academic years. Griman was also an Easton/NFCA Scholar Athlete for the 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.

She graduated from UIC with an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology-Exercise Science and is now in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Indiana University on the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis.

Griman's younger sister, Mackenzie, is a sophomore on Butler's softball team.

The Bulldogs open the 2021 season this weekend at a tournament at Northern Iowa.
