The Butler women's tennis team posted a 4-3 win over Dayton in their first outdoor match, moving to 3-3 overall and improving to 3-1 at home. The Bulldogs returned to action at on Saturday after a two-week paused due to COVID-related issues within the men's and women's tennis teams.
How It Happened:
Lauryn Padgett and Lauren Marx won the lone set of doubles for the Bulldogs 6-2, as the Flyers claimed the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to take the first big point of the match.
In singles, No. 1 Natalie Boesing, No. 2 Lauryn Padgett, No. 3 Delaney Schurhamer, and No. 6 Lauren Marx won their respective flights versus the Flyers. Boesing, Schurhamer and Marx all claimed straight set wins, while Padgett fought back from a first set loss to force a third set.
The win in the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 flight came in Marx's first lineup appearance for the Bulldogs this season.
Looking ahead, Butler will host Western Kentucky on Friday, March 26, which was rescheduled match from Feb. 27.
