INDIANAPOLIS – The final two matches of the Spring 2021 season are up next for the Butler volleyball team. The 'Dawgs will travel to Cincinnati for a couple contests vs. Xavier at the Cintas Center. Friday night's battle will stream on BEDN at 7 PM. Saturday's season finale will get started at 5:30.
 
Scouting Xavier
The Musketeers have played nine matches this spring, but only two have come against BIG EAST competition. Xavier traveled to DePaul to split a pair of five-set matches. They won 3-2 in the first meeting (19-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12), but fell 2-3 in the rematch (27-25, 25-19, 20-25, 24-26, 12-15). Delaney Hogan is the top threat for the Musketeer attack. She leads the team with 97 kills and is also a team leader with 34 total blocks. Carrigan O'Reilly will set up the action and Alyssa Overbeck is defensive leader with 179 digs.
 
All-Time Series vs. the Musketeers
Xavier leads the all-time series vs. Butler 21-16. Butler swept Xavier in 2019, but the Musketeers won each meeting in 2018.
 
Last Match vs. Xavier
Butler swept Xavier in 2019 on Senior Day (25-20, 25-12, 25-22). Butler hit .330 in the victory while limiting Xavier to a .167 attack percentage.  
 
Last Weekend
Butler ran into #23 Creighton last weekend and took two 3-set losses to the Bluejays. Senior Maria Schorr was recognized before first serve on Saturday for Senior Day. She jumped into the starting lineup and led the team with 20 assists. Melody Davidson provided the offense with 10 kills. The day prior, Butler used Madison Friebel and Marissa McKelvey at the setter position. They helped Davidson reach 10 kills and Brittany Robinson would do her part with seven.
