The Bulldogs fell 17-3 at the hands of #22 Denver in the first BIG EAST weekend of the year in Denver, Colo. Butler moves to 0-2 while the Pioneers shift to 3-1.
How It Happened
Five different Pioneers scored in the first ten minutes of play, including two goals from Eliza Radochonski, to put Denver up 6-0 early.
With 20 minutes left in the first period, Butler took advantage of a man-up opportunity as
Campbell Connors found the net to put the Bulldogs on the board.
Denver would add three more goals before
Kayla Kielbasa could score on a free-position opportunity. The Pioneers collected another four goals in the first period to put the score at 13-2 entering the break.
Both teams dug in on defense to limit scoring in the second half.
Gabryelle Bodine netted Butler's third and final goal to open scoring in the period. Denver found four more scores to end the game 17-3

Bulldog Bits
- Three different Bulldogs scored in the loss, including team goal-leader Connors who tabbed her third goal of the season.
- Butler's other two goals from Kielbasa and Bodine also scored in Butler's season opener.
- Freshmen Leah Rubino and Ella Squibb each won five draw controls.
- Rubino also led the team in caused turnovers with three and picked up two ground balls.
- Amanda Rumsey and Katie McGrath split time between the pipes. McGrath had a career-high nine saves on the day.
