The Butler women's lacrosse team fell 19-4 at the hands of the Connecticut Huskies at Varsity Field in Sunday's weekend series finale.
How it Happened:
UConn got on the board first, but the score was answered by two quick Bulldog goals. The Huskies took over after that, keeping Butler from scoring the rest of the half and netting 13 goals of their own, forcing a running clock at the end of the first period.
The Huskies kept the pressure on after half, adding goals for a 17-0 run before Butler came up with two goals to close out the last ten minutes of play.
Notable Stats:
- Ella Squibb scored her first goal of her collegiate career in the loss
- Fellow freshman Aleigh Monroe got her first collegiate start between the pipes
- Senior Liz Davide scored Butler's final goal, her first of the season
- Katie McGrath and Mandy Rumsey both saw time in goal for the Bulldogs.
- McGrath had a game-high seven saves and a team-leading three groundballs for Butler
- The Huskies had a 14-10 advantage in draw controls and a 12-2 edge in free-position opportunities
