Four Bulldogs combined on an impressive performance in the circle as Butler posted a 3-0 win over Indiana State in a non-conference match-up Tuesday in Indianapolis.
Karli Ricketts,
Alyssa Graves and
Madison Seigworth each pitched two scoreless innings before
Mackenzie Griman came on to close the door in the seventh. Each of the pitchers faced eight or less Sycamores.
With the result, Butler is now 10-14 on the season.
Two of the pitching staff helped their own cause to plate the first run of the game. In the bottom of the first, Griman drew a two-out walk. Ricketts's double to deep right-center scored her for a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs posted a pair of runs in the fifth.
Lauren Fey's triple scored pinch-runner
Loren Simpson.
Bri Avery then followed with a squeeze bunt to plate Fey.
Each team was able to generate only three hits, but the Bulldogs made the most of their opportunities.
Butler's staff combined to strike out six Sycamores.
Lexi Benko took the loss for ISU, surrendering all three runs over the first 4.1 innings of the game.
The Bulldogs begin a three-game conference series with a Friday 3 p.m. contest against St. John's.
