@ButlerMSoccer Knocks Off Creighton, 3-2, for Senior Day Win

The Bulldogs capped the spring 2021 season in style, posting a come-from-behind 3-2 win over visiting Creighton Saturday in Indianapolis. The match served as Senior Day for the Bulldogs, who recognized the program's seven graduating student-athletes.

With the result, Butler finishes the season at 4-6-2 overall and 4-2-2 in BIG EAST play. Creighton ends their regular season at 6-5, including 5-3 in conference play. The Bluejays will be one of two teams representing the Midwest division in next week's BIG EAST Tournament.

Creighton scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the second half to erase a 1-0 Butler halftime advantage.

That is when the Butler rally began. In the 75th minute, senior Ethan King scored the first goal of his Butler career in the final outing of his Butler career. He took a beautifully-played ball from Jack Haywood that split a pair of Creighton defenders, and King was able to beat Creighton keeper Nathan Schnur.

The game-winner came off the foot of Haywood, who sent a free kick from 25 yards out into the top right corner. It was his first goal of the season and second of his career.

Butler's opening goal came from Jack Streberger, which was also the first of his career. Haywood started the score with a nifty pass to Wilmer Cabrera, Jr. in space. He sent a pass ahead to Streberger, who took one touch and then slide the ball by Schnur and just inside the left post. That tally came in the 41st minute, putting Butler on the board after being unable to convert two quality chances in the opening 10 minutes.

Butler out-shot Creighton, 13-10. Haywood led the Bulldogs with four shots, finishing the match with a goal and two assists. The Bulldogs also had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Creighton committed 18 fouls and was assessed four yellow cards in the match.

The match served as Butler's spring finale. With lightning in the area slightly delaying the start of the match, the Bulldogs recognized their graduating student-athletes during halftime: King, Justin Savona, Jack Woods, Kenzith Andrew, P.J. Garcia, Usman Gil Ivern and Michael Cohen. Woods saw his first game action in the match.
