Butler women's lacrosse will travel to Villanova for a two-game series, starting with a 12 p.m. game on Friday, April 9. The weekend will close with a 12 p.m. game on Sunday, April 11.

This weekend will be the third BIG EAST matchup of the season for Butler after weekends against Denver and UConn. The Bulldogs are still looking for their first win of the season.

- Campbell Connors leads the Bulldogs with eight points and seven goals, she also has one assist.
- Greer Bireley has a team-high four assists, she also has one goal.
- Last time out, Bireley, Ella Squibb and Leah Rubino each scored their first collegiate goal.
- Aleigh Monroe got her first collegiate start between the pipes on Sunday against UConn.
- 11 different Bulldogs recorded at least one goal in the weekend series against the Huskies.
- 12 Dawgs have found the back of the net this season and eight have at least one assist.
- Butler is returning nine starters from last season, including 2020 leading scorer Gabryelle Bodine, who had a goal and assist last weekend.
- The Bulldogs return three players who earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards last season in goalie Amanda Rumsey and attackers Kaley Attaway and Connors.
- Three current Bulldogs, Ashley Guerra, Amanda Rumsey, and Katie McGrath, hold at least one individual career record in Butler's program history.

Sophomore Strength
Despite experiencing shorted freshman campaigns, sophomores
Campbell Connors and
Greer Bireley are leading the offense for Butler. Connors leads the team in points and goals, and has scored at least one goal in all but one game this season. Bireley has a team-high four assists on the year. Butler's sophomore class has scored 14 of 33 total goals this season.

Scouting the Wildcats
Villanova enters the series at 3-7 on the season, and 1-3 in BIG EAST play. Libby McKenna and Katie Comerford have been leading the Wildcat offense, both with 32 points. McKenna has 24 goals along with eight assists, and Comerford has 17 goals and 15 assists. Two other Wildcats have 15 goals this season.

Friday's game will be the fourth meeting between the Bulldogs and Wildcats since Butler's 2017 inaugural season. Villanova leads the series 3-0, with the last win coming on April 20, 2019 in at Victory Field.

New BIG EAST Format                                                                      Â
This season, women's lacrosse will play a Friday – Sunday schedule in which the teams will play their opponents twice in one weekend. The schedule spans seven weekends with two makeup weekends built in. The championship will be hosted by Georgetown, May 6 and May 8.
