COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Butler baseball team came out on top in game one 2-0, but would fall to Georgetown in the nightcap 5-4. This is the fourth time this season that BU has split a doubleheader vs. a BIG EAST opponent.
Game One
Jack Myers won the seven-inning pitching duel against Jae Gnazzo to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 victory. Myers struck out eight and didn't issue a walk in his second complete game of the season. He limited the Hoyas to four hits to earn his fourth win of the 2021 campaign.
Each Butler run came in the fourth inning and each went down in the scorebook as unearned.
Freddie Matos singled up the middle of the diamond to score
Dan Harwood and would eventually come around to score a run on a hard groundout from
Brody McGrath. BU had just three total hits with Matos collecting two of the three. Harwood stayed hot at the plate for the other.
