Late Surge Pushes @ButlerUBaseball Past Georgetown 13-7

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Butler scored 12 runs over the final three innings of the game to comeback and defeat the Georgetown Hoyas by the final score of 13-7. Three home runs helped lead the charge late for BU and the 'Dawgs would plate seven of their 13 total runs in the ninth to secure their 13th win of the season.

Kollyn All, Dan Harwood and James Gargano would all hit home runs for Butler, helping the 'Dawgs come out on top. All entered the game as a pinch-hitter and supplied a three-run home run in the eighth to give BU a 6-4 lead.

The Hoyas knotted the score at 6-6 by scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the BU bats would allow the Bulldogs to win on the road. Dan Harwood homered to right center to break up the tie and Gargano would tag on three more runs with his shot over the wall in left.

Gargano ended the day 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. Brody McGrath scored two runs and recorded two RBI on the day. Fellow middle infielder Jonah Wichman also provided a punch for BU with two hits, three RBI and a run scored.

Nick Eaton took the mound for BU and tossed the first 6.1 innings of action. He struck out six while allowing seven total hits. Only two of the four runs to come around vs. Eaton were scored as earned. Greg Gilbert got two outs on the bump for BU, but the win would go to Derek Drees (1-0). Drees struck out two over his two frames.

McCarthy was the starter for the Hoyas. He tossed six innings and left the mound without a decision. The loss fell to Redfern (0-4).

Butler will end the 2021 regular season tomorrow with a 1 PM contest vs. Georgetown
