Voris Adds Three to Complete @ButlerUFootball Coaching Staff

| By:

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler football head coach Jeff Voris added three talented coaches to the Bulldog staff this week. Jacob White, Kenny-Ray Augustus, and Austin Taylor will all be on the Bulldog sideline this fall when Butler opens the 2021 campaign.

"We are excited to complete our football staff for the upcoming 2021 season," Voris explained. "We believe we have added three coaches that will seamlessly fit the "Butler Way"."

Jacob White was a three-time team captain while playing inside linebacker at Ball State. In 2019, White was a First Team All Mid-American Conference selection that was also tabbed Ball State's Defensive Player of the Year. He won the Ball State Dave McLain Leadership Award twice ('19, '17) while on campus and was also an Academic All-MAC honoree.

"Jacob White joins our defensive staff as an assistant with the secondary after an impactful career at Ball State," Voris stated. "His energy and passion along with his leadership will make an immediate impact on our program."

Kenny-Ray Augustus will head back to Indianapolis after a stint at McKendree University serving as the program's run-game coordinator and defensive line coach. Augustus joined the McKendree staff in 2018. Prior to that, he worked as the special team's coordinator and defensive line coach at the University of Indianapolis for 12 seasons. While working at UIndy, the Greyhounds won five Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships and made four NCAA Division II playoff appearances. Augustus is also active in the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship Program. He has worked with the Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Chargers in multiple roles over the last decade.

"Kenny-Ray Augustus returns to Indianapolis to complete our defensive staff," Voris added. "He will take over the defensive line with Derelle Hankins moving to coach our inside linebackers. Kenny-Ray brings a ton of coaching experience to our staff. He is an outstanding teacher of defensive line play. Our players will benefit from his coaching and our program will benefit from his tireless recruiting."

Indiana native Austin Taylor will serve as the tight ends coach at Butler this upcoming season. Taylor most recently worked as the defensive line coach at DePauw University. Before joining the Tigers, Taylor was an assistant defensive coordinator and linebacker coach at both Zionsville and Hamilton Southeastern High School. He also coached the defensive line at Pike High School for two seasons. A standout student-athlete at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, Taylor earned a degree at Ball State while working as a coaches assistant.

"Rounding out our offensive staff is Austin Taylor," Voris said. "Austin joins us from DePauw and has a bright future in the coaching profession. He comes highly recommended as a really good teacher, coach and recruiter. We are extremely excited to have him coaching our tight ends."

Butler will play five games at the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl this fall with the home opener set for Saturday, Sept. 11 against DePauw. The season opener will be played the weekend before at Illinois State on Sept. 4.

"All three of these guys have been around some good programs and outstanding coaches," Voris said. "We look forward to their contributions to our program and Butler University on and off the field."
