The Butler women's soccer team opened its fall 2021 campaign with a 5-0 loss to the University of Michigan. The Bulldogs (0-1) gave up goals in the eleventh and 34th minutes to trail, 2-0, at the half. The Wolverines (1-0) added three additional goals in the second period.
Key Moment
In a quick sequence just eleven minutes into the match, Michigan's Sammi Woods sent a ball to the left side of Butler's penalty box. Teammate Nicki Hernandez quickly sent it directly in front of the goal, to Raleigh Loughman, who punched it into the back of the net for what was ultimately the winning goal.
