The Butler women's soccer team returns to the Sellick Bowl on Thursday evening, September 2, to host cross-town opponent IUPUI. The match will kick off at 7 PM.
 
The Bulldogs (2-1-0) most recently beat Illinois, their second consecutive defeat of a Big Ten opponent. The Jaguars are coming off an 0-4 defeat at the hands of Western Michigan.

Butler has scored six goals this season, averaging 2 goals per game. The Bulldogs have taken 32 total shots, averaging 10.7 shots per game, and 17 of those shots have been on goal (0.531). Katie Soderstrom (3g, 1a) currently leads the team in points and was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer Women's Team of the Week for her recent performances against Northwestern and Illinois. Abigail Isger (1g, 3a) is second in points, as all four of her shots this season have been on target. Goalkeeper Emma Martin has allowed three goals to begin the season and has recorded 12 saves (80% saves). Morgan Kloosterman (218), Soderstrom (202), Lauren Doerr (201), Claire Farrington (200), and Martin (200) have all logged over 200 minutes on the field this season.

Butler has won six straight games against IUPUI. The largest margin of victory for the Bulldogs over IUPUI occurred on September 19, 2001 (5-1). This was the first ever meeting between the two programs. Butler's last defeat to IUPUI came on September 29, 2010. That 1-3 loss took place on the IUPUI campus. Butler's last home defeat to the Jaguars was on September 1, 2009 (0-1).

This season, the Jaguars (1-2-0) are averaging 2.33 goals per game with 7 total goals. They have taken 48 total shots in their first three games, averaging 16 shots per game.

IUPUI went 5-1-2 in the shortened spring 2021 season and finished 4th in the Horizon league with 17 points. The Jaguars scored 9 goals and gave up 3, tying for 2nd place in the Horizon league for fewest goals allowed.
