The Butler women's soccer team is preparing to host Western Michigan for a Thursday evening match on September 16, at 7 pm, in the Sellick Bowl. The Bulldogs (6-1-0) most recently beat Ball State, their sixth win in as many matches. The Broncos are coming off an 0-5 loss to USC.

Against Ball State, Abigail Isger scored her fourth goal of the season, which was the fifth of her career. Gretchen Skoglund notched her first goal of the season and sixth of her career. Katie Soderstrom's fifth goal of the season was the 21st of her career. Helping the goal scorers, Amanda Kowalski tallied her second assist of season and 13th of her career, while Anastasia Savich's first assist of season was the 10th of her career.

·   The Bulldogs have scored 15 goals in seven matches this season (2.14 goals/match) while giving up nine goals (1.29 goals allowed/match).

·   Six different players have scored goals in seven matches this season, and eight different players have produced an assist.

·   Butler has taken 37 corner kicks this season while opponents have taken 19.
 

·   Amanda Kowalski was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for her for her performances in the wins over Wright State and Ball State. The Kowalski-led Butler defense limited opponents to just two shots on goal last week as the Bulldogs outshot the Wolves and the Cardinals by a combined 42-3 margin, including 22-2 on target. Kowalski added an assist against Ball State, dishing on Abigail Isger's seventh-minute game winner. For Kowalski, the weekly honor is the third of her Butler career.

·   Forward Abigail Isger (4g, 4a, 12p) and midfielder Katie Soderstrom (5g, 1a, 11p) lead the Bulldogs in offensive points.

·   Soderstrom (5), Isger (4), and Gabby Smith (2) each have mutiple goals after seven matches.

·   Three Bulldogs have three or more assists on the season: Isger (4), Alli Leonard (3), and Becky Dean (3).

·   Emma Martin (6-0) has allowed five goals in seven matches (six starts) this season and has recorded 18 saves (.783). Her goals against average is 0.80.

Scouting Western Michigan

Western Michigan finished the 2020-21 spring season with an overall record of 6-2-2, outscoring its opponents, 15-8. Leading offensive standouts (who returned for the fall 2021 season) were Bailey Korhorn (5g, 1a), Morgan Otteson (2g, 4a), Jenna Blackburn (4a) and Kayla Whelchel (2g).
