The Butler women's soccer team is preparing for a Sunday afternoon matchup with Utah, at 1 PM on September 5.
 
The Bulldogs (3-1-0) most recently beat IUPUI, their third win in as many matches. The Utes (3-2) are coming off an 1-0 victory over Illinois State.
Butler has scored seven goals this season, averaging 1.75 goals per game. The Bulldogs have taken 64 total shots, averaging 16 shots per game, and 38 of those shots have been on goal (0.594). Katie Soderstrom and Alli Leonard each have 12 shots this season, leading the Bulldogs. Abigail Isger has six shots but, with 3 goals, has scored on 50% of them. Goalkeeper Emma Martin (3-0) has allowed three goals in four matches (three starts) this season and has recorded 14 saves (.824). Her goals against average is 0.93. Soderstrom was selected to the Top Drawer Soccer Women's Team of the Week for her performances last week against Northwestern and Illinois which included 3 goals and 1 assist.

Scouting Utah
The Utes are 4-0-2 all-time against BIG EAST members. Utah is looking for its ninth NCAA Appearance this season. The last time the Utes made the NCAA Tournament was 2019. Utah made five-straight appearances from 2002 to 2006. The best NCAA finish was during the 2016 season when the Utes advanced to the Sweet 16. The Utes were picked to finish 11th in the Pac-12 Preseason Coaches' Poll. First-year head coach Hideki Nakada came to Utah from Stanford where he helped lead the Cardinal to two National Championships (2017, 2019) and five consecutive Pac-12 Championships (2015-1019).
