The Butler women's soccer team is preparing for a Thursday evening matchup at Wright State on September 9. The 7 pm kickoff will take place at Alumni Field in Dayton, Ohio.

The Bulldogs (4-1-0) most recently beat Utah, their fourth win in as many matches. The Raiders are coming off a 1-4 loss to the University of Tennessee-Martin. Gabby Smith's goal was her second of the season and the fourth of her career, while Maddie Farnsworth's goal was her first of the season and the second of her career. This was the first ever multiple-assist match for Becky Dean. She has three assists this season and four in her career. Gretchen Skoglund's assist was her first of the season and the fifth of her career.

·   The Bulldogs have scored nine goals in five matches. (1.80 goals/match) and given up eight goals in five matches (1.60 goals allowed/match).

·   Five different players have scored goals in five matches this season, and six different players have produced an assist.

·   Butler has taken 22 corner kicks this season while opponents have taken 14.

·   Midfielder Katie Soderstrom (3g, 1a) and forward Abigail Isger (2g, 3a) lead the Bulldogs in points (7).

·   Soderstrom (3), Isger (2), and Gabby Smith (2) each have mutiple goals after five matches.

·   Three Bulldogs have three assists on the season: Isger, Alli Leonard, and Becky Dean

·   Emma Martin was selected for the second time this season as BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  The goalkeeper (4-0) has allowed four goals in five matches (four starts) this season and has recorded 17 saves (.810). Her goals against average is 0.95.
 

Scouting Wright State

·   Wright State finished seventh out of 12 teams in the Horizon League in the 2020-21 spring season with an overall record of 4-5.

·   For the 2021 season, the Raiders have scored seven goals in five matches (1.40 goals/match) and have also given up seven goals (1.40 goals/match). Their opponents have had 21 corner kicks while Wright State has taken only 10.

·   Stat Leaders:

·   #17 Olga Massombo- leads the team in points. Has scored two goals and assisted on one in five games played.

·   #6 Destiny Johnson has scored two goals in five games played.

·   #10 Michelle Rings has scored one goal and assisted on another in four games played.

·   Goalkeeper #0 Jessika Seward has started all five games in goal and has 25 saves and has allowed seven goals against. Save % of 0.759.

·   Goalkeeper #1 Erin Baker has appeared in two games this year and is yet to allow a goal. Baker has three saves in her two appearances.
