The Butler women's soccer team begins a critical stretch as it seeks to qualify for its eighth-consecutive BIG EAST Tournament. The squad is currently on a three-game winning streak as it prepares to host St. John's on Thursday, Oct. 13, in an early, 2 p.m., start. The Bulldogs (6-6-1, 3-2-0 BIG EAST) currently sit in fifth in the league standings and are coming of a 2-1 road victory over DePaul. The Red Storm (6-4-4, 3-2-1 BIG EAST) is tied with Creighton in the third position and most recently defeated Providence, 1-0.

  • Katie Soderstrom sits atop the BIG EAST with 3.69 shots per game (28th nationally), 3 game-winning goals (34th), 1.77 shots on goal per game (35th), 16 total points, 6 goals, and 4 assists.
  • Talia Sommer is fifth in the BIG EAST (75th nationally) with a shot accuracy of .545.
  • Anna Pierce is fifth in the BIG EAST with 39 saves.
     
  • Abigail Isger was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 10 for her performances in wins over Villanova and DePaul that included a game-winning goal and an assist on another game-winning goal. Her goal came in the 67th minute of the Bulldogs' match against DePaul, giving Butler the 2-1 victory on the road. The redshirt junior assisted on Caitlin O'Malley's game-winning goal in the 86th minute in Butler's home win against Villanova. Isger led the league in shots last week (9) along with finishing tied for second in points (3).
  • Caitlin O'Malley was listed on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after scoring the game-winning goal in Butler's 1-0 win over Villanova (Thursday, 10/6).
