The Butler men's soccer team heads to Providence on Saturday, Oct. 15, seeking it fourth conference win. The match, against the seventh-place side in the BIG EAST, is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The (rv) Bulldogs (8-3-1, 3-1-1 BIG EAST) are coming off a 2-0 shutout win over Villanova, while the Friars (3-4-5, 1-2-3 BIG EAST) most recently lost to Georgetown, 0-1.

  • Palmer Ault's 4 game-winning goals ranks 3rd nationally and leads the BIG EAST. He is second in the conference with 8 goals (12th) and 19 points (15th). His shot accuracy of .500 (74th) is sixth in the conference.
  • Wilmer Cabrera Jr. leads the BIG EAST and is 12th nationally with 3.58 shots per game, and he is fifth in the conference (62nd) with 1.33 shots on goal per game. His 13 total points are sixth in the BIG EAST (71st), and his five goals are seventh (69th).

In Butler's 2-3 loss to Georgetown, he notched a goal and assisted on the other, leading the team in both shots (3) and shots on goal (2). In the 4-1 win over IUPUI, Hooks knocked in two goals, including the game-winner. He was second on the team with five shots, but led with four on goal.
     
  • The Bulldogs are currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches national poll (10/11/2022). Butler's highest ranking this season was No. 12 in the Sept. 4 poll.   • Joost de Schutter's converted penalty kick was the game-winner and his first goal as a Bulldog.
  • Jack Streberger's goal was his third of the season and the fifth of his career.
  • Gabriel Gjergji made six saves in the match for his third solo shutout of the season. He also has a combined shutout this season and has accumulated 19.5 for his career.
