INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's soccer team and Creighton were level, 1-1, after regulation and overtime periods, forcing a shootout to determine which would advance to the semifinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament. After a scoreless first half, the No. 5-seed Bluejays opened the scoring and led through the 82
nd minute. The No. 4-seed Bulldogs tied the match at one with less than eight minutes to play in regulation, forcing overtime.
After 20 minutes of scoreless play in extra time, the teams organized for a shootout. The first five players on each team connected, ending the preliminary round at five points apiece. In the second round, each team missed the target. In the deciding third round, Creighton converted and Butler missed, sending the Bluejays on to face No. 1-seed (No. 15) Georgetown on Nov. 3 in Maryland.
