The Butler men's soccer team will be seeking its second win ever against Georgetown and its third BIG EAST victory in a row when the Hoyas visit the Sellick Bowl on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 7PM. The (rv) Bulldogs (6-2-1, 2-0-1 BIG EAST) are coming off a 3-1 win over Marquette, while Georgetown (3-4-2, 1-1-0) most recently had a non-conference win over Bowling Green, 1-0.

Bulldog Bits
(through games 10/02/2022)
  • Palmer Ault's 4 game-winning goals (2nd nationally), 8 goals (4th), and 18 points (7th) all lead the BIG EAST. He is third in the conference (32nd) with 1.56 shots on goal per game, and fifth (68th) with a .519 shot accuracy.
  • Wilmer Cabrera Jr. leads the BIG EAST and is 10th nationally with 3.56 shots per game, and he is fourth in the conference (47th nationally) with 1.44 shots on goal per game.
  • Gabriel Gjergji ranks in the top five in the BIG EAST in saves (4th/29), save percentage (5th/.784), and goals-against average (5th/.949).
     
  • Wilmer Cabrera, Jr. was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 3. In Butler's 3-1 win over Marquette, he notched the opening goal and then assisted on the two additional goals.
  • Palmer Ault was selected as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Oct. 3. He scored the final two goals of the match in the Bulldogs' 3-1 over Marquette, including the game-winner.
  • Ault has scored a brace in three consecutive matches (Lindenwood, UConn, Marquette).
     
  • The Bulldogs are currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches national poll (9/27/2022). Butler's highest ranking this season was No. 12 in the Sept. 4 poll. The Bulldogs are 1-1 against opponents ranked in the top-15.

    Against Marquette:
  • Wilmer Cabrera, Jr.'s goal was his fourth of the season and the 21st of his career. His assists were his second and third of the season, and he now totals 11 for his career.
  • Palmer Ault registered his third brace in as many games, scoring the seventh and eighth goals of his short career.
  • DJ Hooks' assist was his second of the season and the third of his career.
  • Gabriel Gjergji made three saves in the match and now has 271 in his career. With three more, he would move into a tie for the second position on Butler's all-time list for career saves.
