The Butler men's soccer team will pause BIG EAST play for a match with Horizon League opponent IUPUI on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. The (rv) Bulldogs (6-3-1) are coming off a 3-2 loss to Georgetown, while the Jaguars (1-4-5) most recently tied Milwaukee, 2-2.

Bulldog Bits
            (through games 10/05/2022)
  • Palmer Ault's 4 game-winning goals (3rd nationally), 8 goals (7th), and 18 points (11th) all lead the BIG EAST. His 1.40 shots on goal per game (50th) and .500 shot accuracy (65th) are both third in the conference.
  • Wilmer Cabrera Jr. is second in the BIG EAST and is 15th nationally with 3.40 shots per game, and he is sixth in the conference (76th) with 1.30 shots on goal per game.
  • Gabriel Gjergji ranks in the top six in the BIG EAST in saves (4th/30), save percentage (5th/.732), and goals-against average (6th/1.166).
     
  • Wilmer Cabrera, Jr. was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 3. In Butler's 3-1 win over Marquette, he notched the opening goal and then assisted on the two additional goals.
  • Palmer Ault was selected as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Oct. 3. He scored the final two goals of the match in the Bulldogs' 3-1 over Marquette, including the game-winner. It was his third consecutive match scoring a brace.
     
  • The Bulldogs are currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches national poll (9/27/2022). Butler's highest ranking this season was No. 12 in the Sept. 4 poll. The Bulldogs are 1-1 against opponents ranked in the top-15.
            Against Georgetown:
  • Jack Streberger's goal was his second of the season and the fourth of his career.
  • DJ Hooks now has three goals and three assists on the season, and he has four of each for his career. He has now contributed points for Butler's offense in four consecutive matches.
  • Jack Haywood's assist was his second of the season and the 21st of his career.
  • Gabriel Gjergji made one save in the match and now has 272 in his career. With two more, he would move into a tie for the second position on Butler's all-time list for career saves.
  • Georgetown outshot Butler, 17-12, but the Bulldogs had 6 on goal compared to 4 for the Hoyas.
