WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Butler volleyball team improved their overall record to 14-14 with a 3-0 win at Georgetown on Sunday afternoon (25-16, 25-21, 25-16). The Bulldogs hit .248 as a team and had three players with 13 kills.
Cora Taylor notched a double-double and kept the attack balanced on Sunday at Georgetown. The freshman ended the day with 33 assists and 12 digs.
Mariah Grunze,
Amina Shackelford and
Megan Sheridan all had 13 kills.
Jaymeson Kinley led BU with 20 digs and
Marisa Guisti was credited with six blocks.
Butler led Georgetown 5-1 in the first set and would cruise to a 25-16 win. Shackelford came out aggressive and delivered six kills in the opener.
Set two was more of the same with Butler doubling Georgetown up at 8-4. The Hoyas climbed back into the action at 21-20, but BU would end the set on a 4-1 run to go up 2-0 at the break. Sheridan and Grunze each had six kills in the second set.
Any chance of a comeback would be eliminated in the opening stages of the third set. Butler would slam Georgetown early to open up an 11-1 lead. The 'Dawgs led 20-9 down the stretch and would exit the gym with a 25-16 win.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday, Nov. 18. The contest vs. Providence features an early start at 12 PM.
