INDIANAPOLIS – The 2022 Butler football season will come to a close on Saturday afternoon with Butler hosting St. Thomas at 12 PM. Joey Lindstrom and Andrew Mild will have the call on FloSports with Ethan Polak reporting from the sideline. The Bulldogs will aim to stay undefeated at the Sellick Bowl and hand the Tommies their first PFL loss of the season.

Bulldog Bits
- Saturday is Senior Day for Butler.
- Butler rushed the ball a season-high 50 times at Drake and came up with 103 yards on the ground.
- BU ran a season-high 86 plays at Drake, but turned the ball over a season-high four times.
- Seven punts at Drake also went down as a season-high total for the Bulldogs.
- The Bulldogs had two interceptions in a single-game last week for the first time this season.
- Freshman Will Mason now leads Butler with two interceptions this season.
- Butler leads the FCS in red zone offense (97%). They have scored on 34 of their 35 attempts.
- Luka Zurak hit a 33-yard field goal at Drake. He is now 12-for-13 on field goal attempts this year.
- Bret Bushka leads the PFL and ranks 16th in the FCS in completion percentage (66.7).
- Bushka passed for three touchdowns at Drake for the first time since Oct. 8 vs. Dayton.
- Butler ranks second in the PFL and 31st in the FCS in 3rd down conversion percentage (43%).
- BU leads the PFL in 4th down conversion percentage, net punting, completion percentage, sacks allowed, tackles for loss allowed, and scoring defense.
 
SCOUTING ST. THOMAS: The Tommies are 9-1 overall and on top of the PFL standings with a perfect 7-0 record. They lost at Southern Utah on Sept. 1 and have not seen the loss column since. San Diego gave St. Thomas the most trouble, but Andrew McElroy would help the Tommies come out on top 49-42. McElroy returned a kickoff 95-yards and caught seven passes for 200 yards and a score. He ranks fifth in the PFL in receiving yards per game (68) and is tied for the conference lead in TD receptions with seven. QB Cade Sexauer has thrown for 1,728 yards and 17 touchdowns this year and RB Shawn Shipman ranks third in the league in rushing yards per game (82.8).
 
St. Thomas has clinched a share of the 2022 PFL regular-season title. St. Thomas wins the PFL title outright with a win or a loss by Dayton. Dayton can claim a share of the title with a win and a St. Thomas loss.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: St. Thomas leads the all-time series against Butler 1-0. The Tommies hosted the Bulldogs for the first time in 2021 and posted a 36-0 win at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.
 
Bushka passed for 141 yards at St. Thomas last year. Sexauer completed 17 passes for 194 yards and two scores. McElroy had two grabs for a team-high 51 yards.
 
SINGLE-SEASON TOP-10: Bret Bushka has thrown for 2,254 yards this season the ninth most in BU history. He needs just 83 yards to move into eighth and 200 yards to slide into seventh.
 
DeWayne Ewing passed for 2,337 yards in 2001 and Andrew Huck recorded 2,454 passing yards in 2009.
 
20 PASSING TD'S: Butler has not had a quarterback throw for 20 TD's in a single-season since 2012 when Matt Lancaster tossed 21. Bushka heads into the final weekend of the season with 18. One more puts his name next to Will Marty (2018) and Matt Shiltz (2015) who each threw for 19. The school record is 23 (Matt Kobli - 2008).
 
Bushka has thrown for at least one TD in nine of Butler's 10 games this season. He didn't find the end zone at Davidson, but threw a season-high four TD's in the opener vs. St Thomas (Fla.).
 
ONE-TWO PUNCH: Tyler Adams and Luke Wooten have combined for 92 receptions, 1,305 yards and nine touchdowns this season.
 
The duo accounts for 47 percent of Butler's receptions, 57 percent of their yards and half of their receiving TD's.
 
SUCHY AS A SOPHOMORE: RB Joey Suchy has carved out a larger role in the Bulldog offense during his second season on campus. Suchy took a season-high 19 handoffs at Drake and now has 100 carries on the season. He has rushed for 407 yards and four touchdowns.
 
Suchy played in all 11 games for BU last year, but only carried the ball 56 times. He has rushed for at least 40 yards in four-straight games. 
 
LEAGUE LEADERS: Bret Bushka leads the PFL in total offense (281.9) and total offense touchdowns (23).
 
Luke Wooten leads the PFL in total receptions (55) and receptions per game (5.5).
 
2022 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS: On Oct. 8, Butler shutout Dayton 31-0 to end the longest scoring streak in Division I football (501 games). It was Butler's first win over Dayton since 2013.
 
On Oct. 15, Butler won the Hoosier Helmet at Valparaiso by outscoring the Beacons 20-6 in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs had lost the previous three meetings vs. their in-state rival.
 
On Oct. 29, Butler beat Morehead State for the first time since 2018. It marked the 600th all-time win in program history.
 
On Nov. 5, Butler defeated San Diego at Torero Stadium for the first time since 2001!
 
Butler has not defeated San Diego, Morehead State, Valpo and Dayton in the same year since 2009.
 
BUSHKA ADDED TO WATCH LIST: Bret Bushka is listed on the 2022 Walter Payton Award watch list, an honor that Stats Perform presents to the national offensive player of the year in college football's Division I subdivision.
 
FINAL GAME: Butler was eliminated from post-season consideration with its loss at Drake.
