MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State scored eight runs in the first and seven more in the fourth to cruise to an 18-1 victory over Butler in game two of the weekend series. Jake Slunder and Seth Gardner each had four RBI to lead the Racers to victory.
The game started off with Butler scoring a single run in the top of the first inning.
Travis Holt walked to lead off the game and stole second to get into scoring position.
James Gargano would dig in with one out and two on and a fielder's choice down the line would allow Holt to score.
The lead didn't last the whole inning as Murray State scored eight runs off six hits in the bottom half. They added seven more runs off five hits in the fourth to take full control of the contest.
Aaron Barokas was hit with the loss (0-1) while Shane Burns picked up his first win of the campaign.
Garret Gray went behind the dish for the Bulldogs and ended up going 2-for-3 from the plate. Gargano went 1-for-3 with the RBI, but the 'Dawgs were limited to just six hits compared to 16 for the Racers.
The two teams will finish the weekend series tomorrow. First pitch is set for 2 PM.
