INDIANAPOLIS – Eastern Michigan scored 10 runs over the final two innings to record a 15-4 victory against Butler at Bulldog Park on Saturday afternoon. Zach Fruit earned the win on the mound and Trevor House was credited with a save after entering the game in the seventh inning.
Butler trailed Eastern Michigan 5-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but the game would take a turn after a three RBI double from
James Gargano that cleared the bases.
Lukas Galdoni,
Billy Wurch and
Travis Holt all came around to score getting the 'Dawgs back within one run.
The Bulldog momentum was zapped in the top of the eighth however with EMU scoring five runs off four hits. The Eagles matched that production with five more runs off four hits in the ninth to claim their fourth win of the season.
Holt and O'Halloran each had three hits on the day to lead the 'Dawgs from the plate.On the mound, BU started
Cory Bosecker for the fifth time this season. Bosecker pitched six full frames, striking out four and only walking two. He allowed four runs off seven hits. Three of the four runs were earned.
John MacCauley,
Austin Andrishok and
Alex Voss would also touch the rubber for BU. MacCauley got five outs for the 'Dawgs and Voss would end the game for BU in the ninth.
Butler and Eastern Michigan will play a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at noon.
