@ButlerUBaseball Splits Sunday Doubleheader vs. Eastern Michigan

INDIANAPOLIS – It was an action packed day at Bulldog Park on Sunday with Butler hosting a doubleheader against the Eagles of Eastern Michigan. The Bulldogs came out in game one 4-3, but the Eagles would win the weekend series with a 7-0 victory in the nightcap.

Kollyn All drove a ball through the left side of the infield in the bottom of the eighth inning in game one to give Butler a 4-3 victory over Eastern Michigan. Jonathan Shoop entered the game for Garrett Gray as a pinch runner and scored the game winning run on the hit.

The Bulldogs would then send Derek Drees to the mound for the save. The 6-6 redshirt-senior shined in the role striking out two of the three batters he faced. Drees now has a team-high three saves on the season.

BU used three arms in game one with Aaron Barokas getting the start and Jon Vore getting the win. Barokas went five full innings and struck out four while only issuing one walk. Vore took over the next three innings and limited the Eagles to just two hits. Vore moves to 3-1 on the year while EMU's Zach Gillig slides to 0-2.

Scoring in the game started in the third inning. Scott Jones hit a ball hard to the left side of the infield. The Eastern Michigan shortstop got the force at second, but the double play try would fail with the ball sailing high, over the EMU first baseman. Butler scored two on that play and would add a third run on an RBI single by Ryan O'Halloran through the right side of the infield.

The Eagles got two runs back in the fourth and tied the game in the sixth. Daniel Warkentin had a sac fly in the fourth and added an RBI single to right in the sixth. The Eagles however would not score another run the rest of the way allowing BU to record the 4-3 win.

The Butler offense never got going in game two on Sunday. EMU limited BU to just two hits in the contest and would cruise to a 7-0 victory. Thomas House picked up the win and the loss would go to Cole McDaniel.

The Bulldogs will now shift their focus to #7 Tennessee. The Vols will host the Bulldogs on Tuesday.
