Indianapolis. - The Butler women's lacrosse team (4-4) fell on Friday to Cincinnati (5-6) 16-12.
How it Happened:
The Bulldogs went down early after Cincinnati's Ava Goeller scored two in the first three minutes. The Bulldogs responded about a minute later with a goal from
Kaley Attaway.
Greer Bireley and
Lindsey Schreiber both scored in the first as well. Butler trailed 8-3 at the end of the first quarter.
The Dawgs scored three in a three-minute span to bring the score to 8-6. Schreiber,
Ellie Eisenklam, and
Gabryelle Bodine scored the three goals. Schreiber scored her third of the game and second of the quarter with five minutes left in the half.
Campbell Connors found the back of the net shortly after bringing the score to 10-8 at the half.
Four total goals were scored in the third quarter, two by each team.
Gabryelle Bodine had both for the Dawgs in the third. Ava Goeller and Kylie Gioia scored the Bearcats goals.
The Bulldogs could not complete the comeback in the fourth after Cincinnati scored four goals in a ten-minute span. Attaway and Connors each added one in the fourth as well.
