Indianapolis - The Butler women's lacrosse team (5-4) picked up a home win over Youngstown St. (5-6) on Sunday, 12-9.
How it Happened:
The Bulldogs got on the board first after
Campbell Connors found the back of the net on an assist from
Layla Tattersfield.
Kaley Attaway,
Ella Squibb, and
Lindsey Schreiber scored the Bulldogs' next three. It was 4-4 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Bulldogs outscored the Penguins 5-2 to take a 9-6 lead into the half. Connors scored two, Schreiber scored one,
Greer Bireley scored one, and Tattersfield scored one as well. Six different Bulldogs scored in the first half.
The third and fourth quarters were defensive battles, with both teams scoring three goals each, in the second half. Connors, Schreiber, and Attaway scored the three Butler goals in the second half.
Leah Rubino assisted the first, and Bireley assisted the other two.
Aleigh Monroe made five saves, and
Katie McGrath also made five saves to secure the Bulldogs' fifth win of the season.
