JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Dolphins scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to break up a scoreless tie at Sessions Stadium. Each team would then score a single run in the eighth inning to take us to our 4-1 final in favor of the home team.
A groundout RBI would mark the first run of the game between the two evenly matched teams. That action would be followed by a Butler pitching change and a costly Bulldog error that would allow two unearned runs to come in.
Butler led off the eighth with Galdoni at the dish. He saw a full count, but kept a good eye and would get on base for the Bulldogs. With one on and no out, head coach
Dave Schrage would insert
Robbie McCargar into the lineup. The BU pinch-hitter delivered a double to center that sent Galdoni into scoring position.
Billy Wurch would follow in the order and send a deep sac fly to centerfield allowing Galdoni to tag up and get Butler on the board.
Jacksonville would get that run back in the home half of the eighth. Delamielleur doubled to lead off the frame, but would be gunned down at third 9-6-5. Unfortunately Coipel followed him in the order and hit a home run on a 2-1 count.
The official scorer credited Mason Adams with the win and Tyler Vogel with a save. Adams is now 2-0 on the hill and Vogel is off to a great start to 2022 with a team-best five saves.
Ryan O'Halloran supplied Butler with two of their five total hits. Bosecker had a strong showing for the Bulldogs on the mound. He went 6.2 innings, striking out 10 and not issuing a single walk.
These two teams will go at it again Saturday night at 6 PM.
