@ButlerUBaseball Wins Getaway Game at Villanova 11-3

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – The Bulldogs collected their first conference win of the season on Sunday afternoon by recording an 11-3 victory over the Wildcats. Villanova scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning but would be held in check the rest of the way. Butler scored nine of their 11 runs over the final three innings of play to post their 15th win of the season.

Butler came up with 15 hits on Sunday to find the win column. James Gargano went 3-for-6 from the lead-off spot with two RBI and a run scored. Scott Jones led Butler with three RBI on the day. He went 2-for-6 from the plate with a double a run scored.

Kollyn All and Billy Wurch also had multiple RBI's against the Wildcats on Sunday. All hit a two-RBI double in the seventh to make the score 6-3 and Wurch added some insurance in the ninth with a two-RBI single to right that made the game 9-3.

Butler slammed the door on Villanova in the ninth inning by scoring four runs. Gargano followed Wurch with a two-RBI single to left that took the two teams to the 11-3 final score.

Three Bulldog pitchers touched the rubber in the contest. Nick Eaton got the start and recorded six outs before handing the ball off to Derek Drees for the next four innings. Drees struck out five and limited Nova to just two hits. The win went to Lukas Galdoni, his third of the season. Galdoni only allowed one hit over the final three innings to help Butler find the win column.

The 'Dawgs will now return to Indianapolis for a lengthy six-game home stand. Evansville, Northern Kentucky and Dayton are all on the schedule for some midweek action and Butler will host Georgetown in a three-game weekend series.
