Gargano Homers Twice in Setback to #15 UConn

INDIANAPOLIS James Gargano went 2-for-5 with two home runs and a game-high five RBI's in a 14-7 setback to #15 UConn on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies scored 14 runs off 16 hits and got home runs from Casey Dana and Ben Huber.

UConn's offense was great from the very start of the game. They scored four in the first and added five more runs in the third. Butler got a lead-off home run from Gargano to open the day and his second round tripper was a three-run shot to left in the seventh.

Travis Holt and Billy Wurch also had multi-hit games for the Bulldogs. Holt went 3-for-4 with a walk in the three-hole and Wurch went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a double for the 'Dawgs.

On the other side, Casey Dana was 4-for-5 from the plate with three runs scored. He was one of four players to have multiple RBI's on the day. Huber led the team with three.

On the mound, Pat Gallagher got the win after throwing 6.1 innings of action. He was replaced on the mound after Gargano's second home run. Jimmy Wang and Garrett Coe also touched the rubber for UConn. In the end, Gallagher got the win and moved his record to 7-3. Cory Bosecker was hit with the loss.

Bosecker threw two innings and would be replaced by Brandon Haggerty. After a single inning, Haggerty would hand the ball off to Spencer Seigworth. The final BU pitcher to see action on Saturday was Cole McDaniel. He cruised through the final four innings allowing just two hits.

UConn won the series today, but the Bulldogs will battle the Huskies again tomorrow. First pitch has been moved up to 11:30 AM.
