Butler pitcher
Karli Ricketts has been selected as the BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, this time for her performances in the regular season finale against Georgetown.
Ricketts got it done in starting and reliever roles in Sunday's doubleheader sweep over Georgetown. The senior escaped a bases loaded jam in the sixth inning of game one, earning the save by striking out three Hoya batters over 1.1 innings of work. Ricketts would then get the start in game two, going the distance and striking out eight while allowing just four hits in a 7-1 Butler win.

For Ricketts, the weekly honor is her fourth as pitcher. In addition to earlier this season, she received recognition twice during the 2021 season.
Â
Bri Avery was also recognized by the conference with an honor roll selection. She shined in Sunday's doubleheader sweep over Georgetown, going 4-for-7 at the plate across the two games. In game two, she went 3-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and three stolen bases.Â
Butler will compete later this week in the BIG EAST Tournament in Rosemont, Ill. The No. 2 seed Bulldogs will open against No. 3 seed Villanova on Thursday, May 12, at 3pm ET (2pm CT).
