Head coach Sharon Clark has added four recruits to the roster for the 2022 season, including two transfers and two high school signees.

Maddie Renn transfers to Butler after a standout career as a libero at Kansas City (UMKC) that culminated with a Summit League Defensive Player of the Year honor in 2021. The native of Lincoln, Neb., arrives as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility.

"Maddie is a force to be reckoned with. She reads well and is lightning quick," said Clark. "We can't wait to have her on the court."

Another transfer libero, Daniella Russo-Lolas comes to Indianapolis from Eckerd College in Miami, Fla., where she posted 245 digs, 56 assists and 42 service aces as a starting freshman in 2021.

"Dani's passion is undeniable," assistant coach Jocelyn Garcia exclaimed. "She is a competitor who brings an immense amount of energy and excitement to everything she does, and we cannot wait to have that in our gym."

Brooklyne Darby is a defensive specialist / outside hitter from Mason, Ohio, who was a four-year starter and named the Conference Player of the Year in 2021 to conclude her career at William Mason High School.

"Brooklyne is an aggressive player with such a calm demeanor," said Garcia. "Her effort on the court and the respect she has for her coaches and teammates really caught my eye."

Outside hitter Rylie Tam arrives at Butler after four seasons as a starter at Santa Fe High School in High Springs, Fla. As a two-time All-State selection, she set the school record for career kills with 1,355 and won a state championship as a senior in 2021.

"Rylie is the type of player that fits well in our program," said Clark. "Her offensive game is aggressive and terminal. She has a high volleyball IQ that is noticeable instantly, and her work ethic is through the roof."

Butler had previously announced the signings of setters Jenna Splitt (transfer from Iowa) and Cora Taylor (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) to the roster.

The Bulldogs begin the 2022 season with the Top Dawg Challenge at Hinkle Fieldhouse, which includes games against Eastern Illinois and Oakland on Aug. 26 and Akron on Aug. 27.
