INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs return two of the five starters from last year's offensive line unit.
Skyler Spetter and
Colton Ruhland highlight the position group with Spetter on the right side as a tackle a year ago and Ruhland at left guard.
Luke Kessinger,
Bryan Bystol and
Jake Briskey are other upperclassmen in the mix to fill the void.

Seniors

Spetter was an All-Pioneer Football League honorable mention selection for the second time in his career after the completion of his junior season. He started in all 11 games at right tackle in 2021 and was part of a Bulldog offensive line that ranked second in the conference in rushing offense. BU averaged 174 rushing yards per game with backs averaging 4.4 yards per carry. Pass protection was also on point with BU averaging 181 yards through the air to keep the offensive scheme balanced. Ruhland played in all 11 games for the 'Dawgs last season and moved into a starting role for the final eight at guard. Kessinger appeared in four games playing weeks two, three, six and seven.
Juniors
Jake Briskey (6-1, 270)

Bystol played in eight games last season as an interior lineman and will attempt to move into a starting role for the 2022 campaign. Fellow junior, Briskey did not see playing time as a sophomore.
Sophomores

The sophomore class has great size with the four student-athletes averaging a frame of 6-3, 286 pounds. Turner saw the most playing time of this group, taking the gridiron in 10 games. Gonzalez also carved out a role by playing in seven games. He jumped into the starting lineup as well in the game against Taylor. Keane got his feet wet at the collegiate level by playing in five games a year ago and Davis will keep taking reps to find his spot after not seeing playing time last season.

Butler's best game on the ground came on Sept. 11, 2021 when a stable of running backs ran for 383 yards and five touchdowns against DePauw on 60 carries. Weeks later, the 'Dawgs went with an air attack at Dayton to pass for 411 yards against the Flyers. Pass protection was solid with Bushka completing 30 passes on 49 attempts. The offensive line only allowed one sack on the road that day.
