INDIANAPOLIS – The last line of defense for the Butler football team includes a secondary group of cornerbacks, safeties and snipers.
Joe Cheshire oversees the safeties,
Jalen Moss works with the corners, and
Jacob White heads into the 2022 campaign as the snipers coach.
"We have a lot of talent in the cornerback room," Moss stated. These guys clearly love the game of football and although we have a lot to work on, we are continuously getting better every day. I'm excited to see how good we can be this fall."
Seniors
Connor Reid (6-1, 205)
Thomas Rousseau (6-0, 180)
Reid and Rousseau saw extended playing time for the Bulldogs a year ago. Reid was arguably the best defensive player on the field for BU with a team-best 78 tackles in 2021 (27 more than any other player). Reid led the team with three interceptions, made 4.5 tackles for loss and added one sack. Rousseau started in nine games and recorded 21 tackles for Butler. He broke up three passes, had one interception and executed a blitz to record a sack.
Junior
Trey Mason (5-9, 190)
Mason made a move up the depth chart last year and started for the Bulldogs over the final two weeks of the regular season. He appeared in all 11 games and came up with 15 total tackles. Mason also ranked second on the team with two interceptions and four pass break-ups.

Leach started the first two weeks of the regular season for Butler in 2021. He ended up appearing in 10 total games, making 21 tackles. Kozlowski and Bafia also saw the field for the Bulldogs in nine games. Kozlowski came up with 20 tackles and Bafia made 15 stops.

Madison played in all 11 games for the Bulldogs last fall. He recovered a fumble and returned it 11 yards for a touchdown in Week 3 at Taylor. The Davie, Fla. native ended his rookie season with eight total tackles. Cipriano joins Madison on the roster as a redshirt-freshman defensive back. The other six true freshmen will look to impact the team in a variety of ways. Included in this group is
