Butler men's soccer forward Palmer Ault has been selected as the Freshman of the Week by the BIG EAST Conference for his performance in the Bulldogs' 2-0 season-opening win over Western Michigan.

In his first career appearance, Ault led the Bulldogs in shots (4) and shots on goal (2), scoring the game-winning goal in the season-opening win over Western Michigan. After 78 minutes of scoreless action, Ault broke the game open when he took a rebound off a Western Michigan defender and slid it under the Broncos goalkeeper for the deciding goal in the 79th minute. Moments later, Ault drew a foul in the box to set-up a penalty kick opportunity for his teammate, but the Broncos' Hunter Morse made the save. In the 86th minute, Butler earned another penalty kick opportunity, this time capitalizing for the 2-0 triumph.

The Bulldogs return to action Monday evening, hosting #14 Marshall at the Sellick Bowl at 7 pm.
