INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs head into the 2022 regular season with 20 pass catchers on the roster. 14 wide receivers and six tight ends will help the offense move the ball down the field this fall.
Ray Holmes coaches the wide receivers and
Matt Alderfer oversees the tight end position group.
"The wide receiver room has put a lot of hard work in over the summer," Holmes stated. "Each individual has continued to get better day in and day out."
"The tight end group has excelled over the last seven months," Alderfer added. "I've been very impressed with their ability on and off the field, and seeing more and more leadership from our older guys is great to see. They're eager to show our younger guys the ropes and make sure we become the best position group we can be this coming season."

Jack Boyd (5-11, 200)
JD Hollis (5-11, 185)

Two graduate transfers are included in this senior group. Adams became a Bulldog this off-season after playing wide receiver at Harvard from 2017-21. Rowan was a Demon Deacon tight end at Wake Forest before making the move to Indianapolis. The top returning senior is O'Shea and he is joined by teammates Boyd and Hollis. O'Shea has caught 80 passes in a Bulldog helmet, covering 1,057 yards. He has five touchdowns in his career and has averaged 13.2 yards per catch.
Juniors
Jeremy Johnson (6-0, 185)
Jared Suchevits (6-3, 242)
Johnson will look for a larger role with the Bulldogs this season at wide receiver and after moving his name up the depth chart, tight end Suchevits will aim to take his game to another level in 2022. Johnson got on the field in eight games for BU a year ago, catching three balls for 17 yards. Suchevits appeared in nine games and scored two touchdowns for Butler in 2021.
Sophomores
Colin Kelly (5-10, 190)
Luka Popovic (6-1, 180)
Popovic and Kelly have each earned playing time at wide receiver over their young BU careers. Popovic caught three passes last year for 40 yards. His first season displayed similar numbers with two grabs for 45 yards and a TD. Kelly caught two passes for 40 yards in the '21 spring season and followed that with two more receptions for 19 yards in the fall.

Butler has a large group of young student-athletes that will compete in practice, looking for more playing time in 2022. Four redshirt-freshman highlight this unit. Audia made a difference for Butler last year as a return man. He ended the year with 263 all-purpose yards while averaging 19.2 yards per kick-off return. Brown made his BU debut at the Sellick Bowl against Davidson. He played in four games with his first catch coming in the finale at Marist. Wooten and Cox are two other players to keep an eye on. Wooten is from nearby Danville, Ind. and he will make his BU debut this season. Cox is a true freshman from Palatine, Ill. that set school records at Fremd for most catches in a single-season and most career receptions.
